Ilya Kaminsky is a poet born in the former USSR who now lives in the USA. The experience of crossing borders, from one empire to another has impacted his writing, as did his loss of hearing at an early age, and the necessity to write in a language (English) which he has never heard clearly. A commissioned poem self-describes its position in the building, the exhibition and the system of accumulation.
